Abstract
In this interview, Ashley Waterfill discusses her experiences moving to Mississippi after completing law school at the University of Georgia (UGA). Born and raised in Georgia, Waterfill discusses choosing to take the bar examination in Mississippi as her partner, Danny McArthur, is a Mississippi journalist. Waterfill shares information about queer organizations at UGA such as PRISM, Lambda Alliance, and LGBT Ambassadors that greatly impacted her experiences as a queer person throughout college. Waterfill discusses the dwindling of queer events and drag shows that she has felt since initially frequenting Mississippi in 2019. Throughout the interview, Waterfill speaks on her involvement in organizing Tupelo Pride 2023 and shares her love for the drag scene. She currently practices personal injury law at a large Tupelo-area law firm.
