Abstract

In this interview, Kana Crumby discusses her experiences as a counselor in the Tupelo area. Seeing primarily the queer population and people who have sexual or religious trauma, Crumby shares the effects she sees current anti-LGBTQ legislation having on her patients. Crumby dives into the experience of knowing her daughter was attracted to black women at just three years old and how that didn’t align with the form of conservative Christianity she was practicing at the time. Born and raised in various southern spaces, Crumby discusses being grateful for the diverse group of people her grandmother exposed her to while growing up. Crumby shares information about a queer support group she founded and facilitates in Tupelo as well as the great need for more queer spaces and events in the area.
