Record Labels

This collection features album covers and record labels scanned from the Blues Archive in the Department of Archives and Special Collections at the University of Mississippi Libraries. Southern food and the Blues are inextricably linked. Many songs reference soul food staples like cornbread, gravy, and greens. Others are known for their risqué double entendre. Some of these recordings were featured in The Southern Plate: An Archival Exhibit on Food in 2023.
