Minor Hall Dedication
University of Mississippi
Alum Lucian Minor was honored with his name adorning one of the new campus residence halls. The living/learning community (LLC) located on Rebel Drive will be named Minor Hall after the School of Accountancy 1937 graduate. Video by Mary Stanton. Minor Hall Dedication This is the opportunity to recognize a great member of the Ole Miss family, Lucian Minor and his wife, Mary. They have been generous in their support for our University, and in particular, the Patterson School of Accountancy for a number of years. Mr. Minor has been a faithful supporter of the School of Accountancy for 76 years now as an alumnus, graduated in 1937. Has had a tremendous career, has given back to the School of Accountancy both financially and otherwise. I can't think of any other more desiring School of Accountancy alumnus for such an honor. We're very proud and humbled to have the name Minor Hall on this building. It's very appropriate that we would name a residence hall after Mr. Lucian Minor. These residence halls have students who live in living and learning communities. Those communities help them enhance their educational activities as well as build relationships and team building type things. And that's the way that Mr. Minor led Earnest and Young when he was managing partner there.

Myrlie Evers-Williams 2013 Commencement Speaker
University of Mississippi
A clip from UM's 2013 Commencement speaker, Myrlie Evers-WIlliams. Video by Brandon Rook. Produced by Mary Stanton. View entire speech at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-CeCP5qWLo Myrlie Evers-Williams: "This graduation celebration serves as a timely reminder that change is a natural component of evolution, and how this proud University has evolved in these past 165 years. You stand on the foundation that was solidly formed by the founders of this University and has been continually reinforced by those who followed them, determined to carry the torch into the future. And we know that at times torches fade. They never go out, but they surge again with a new vibrancy. And I believe that this class, perhaps more than any other and I'm sure there are those who disagree with me, but you have everything in front of you for a good and a solid future. And I ask you the question, but what will you do, individually and collectively, to take advantage of all of it, and make everything -- in quotes -- good?"
