New Orleans March 15th Dear Ma I just received your letter by the Grey Eagle. you mention writing by Mrs. Blackburn which I never got I am sorry to hear the water is rising an also to hear than yankee soldiers are in town what have you all done with Captain [Bradfort] I have just seen Uncle Tom we have a week vacation then I am going in [McNalls and several illegible words] I am sorry to hear that you [illegible word] going to Mississippsy. I have seen [illegible words due to hole in letter] I have seen aunt [Luzenbug] an coz Charley you did not mention in your letter about receiving the bonet. I saw Mr. Scot this morning he spoke of returning to Providence I don't believe I mention in any of my letters about the party that went down to Vicksburg to get married Mr. Kent an [illegible word] Miss lee has just told me to tell you that the bonet cost $8 an if you want to buy any thing with the rest of the money are the Dr to pay you Aunt sends love to you Miss Lee and girls send love. Helen is in the city most dead to me but I am not dead to her. I expect I have grown a little the pants that Pa brought is getting short.
