Dr. Frederick Robert Bernard was born in Providence (later Lake Providence), La. in 1850. He attended the University of Mississippi and earned a medical degree from Tulane University. Bernard practiced medicine in Lake Providence until his death in 1922.
The collection chiefly contains correspondence between Frederick Robert Bernard and other members of the Bernard family. Letters deal primarily with student life and family matters. Transcriptions are provided where available.
