ThinkForward

In 2017, the University of Mississippi selected Critical Thinking as the theme of its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), submitted to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) as part of its reaccreditation process.

The QEP was implemented through the ThinkForward initiative (2018-2024), designed to foster critical thinking skill development in lower-division, general education courses and co-curricular learning experiences by enhancing faculty development and modifying student learning environments. ThinkForward set out an ambitious set of actions, by uniting the UM community of scholars around a central learning outcome, and reflecting the university’s ongoing commitment to improve general education.
