Abstract
UNIVERSITY, Miss. -- When University of Mississippi Professor David Wharton first visited McDade, Texas, in 1984, he had no idea that he was destined to spend six years of his life taking more than 10,000 photographs of the people and the surroundings in the small town located 35 miles east of Austin.
